HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY TO PRINCESS XUEJING!!!

Our gang-Joan, Liling, Liping and Caiyu, racked our brains together to plan something unforgettable for our dearest friend, XueJing aka snowgold, days before her momentous 21st birthday. We was playing with the idea of bungee jump to joyriding to finally a Seafood Extravaganza at Raffles Hotel-which finally materialized! However, the first and foremost is a unique present. We decided that it should be something touching and finalized on a DIY photo album with personal messages.

This is the cover page with our Princess XueJing posing ever so coolly with her infamous peace finger sign.

This is the 'blackmail letter' made by Liling! Lol!

This essay on the left is written by me-I admit I am a little wordy person:)

This is Joan's masterpiece with 3D lilted candles on the cake;)

...Meanwhile, we are still coordinating closely with Liping at Raffles Hotel to make sure our blast later is flawless...:)
We finally arrived and seated comfortably at Raffles Courtyard. Though we are smiling ever so brilliantly but our tummies are rumbling like thunders:)
Isn't the ambiance perfect for a romantic dinner?

Our drinks arrived-each one of us got a special concoction according to our characteristics by the all-so-sweet Waiter Head-totally for free! Liling got a concoction with spicy ginger in it because she simply looked Hot:) Of course our Birthday Girl got a specially big glass of fruit punch. Liping's concoction has alcohol in it due to her 'undrunkable' love for alcohol. While I have gotten Beach Road concoction-with 7 up and strawberry, because he says i looked most 乖 in the group-wondering why?

The honey sesame pawn roll! It tasted simply delicious and appetizing!

Sambal stingray. It tasted as good as those served at East Coast Park seafood hawker. Simply fabulous.

SzeChuan stingray. The sauce is so sweet and yummy. The meat is so smooth and tender! What an unforgettable dish.

Local style fried noodle. It lacked lots of black soy sauce which is how the local hawker usually serve it-which is the way I like it as well.

Deep fried Sea bass in yellow bean sauce. The sauce is sweet and the meat is soft, white, fresh and tender. The freshness of all the seafood is beyond doubt as all are kept alive before being cooked-this thought suddenly makes me feel quite sinful though:(

Local style fried rice. The rice tasted plain but the pawns in it are simply fresh beyond words!

Chicken Murtabak. Tasted even more ordinary than the 正中Murtabak served by our Indian friends at the local hawker fare. Therefore, it definitely does not worth the $20 price!

Mango, Green tea and Lime ice cream. The Mango ice cream tasted so much like Mango smoothie, simply soothing on the throat and tantalising on the taste bud. The Green tea ice cream has a bitter aftertaste but is a great desert to end the full course meal-at least for me and except for Joan and Liling. Lol!

This is our Princess XueJing with her beautiful tiara specially chosen by us for her. Did I mentioned that the Dark Chocolate cake in front of her has seven layers of alternating chocolate and blueberry flavored pound cake. I personally named it the 'Heavenly Chocolate Cake' as the sweetness and intensity of the dark chocolate melting in your mouth is simply satisfying. Women in PMS will definitely enjoy a happy sugar rush with it.

The grand finale was when the live band-with a angel-like voice female lead, sang the birthday song and ‘月亮代表我的心’dedicated to XueJing.
After 10 fabulous dished served at such a grand restaurant, you would have assumed our pockets are burned and ashed right? The total bill only came up at $44! Unbelievable right? Firstly, it is because Liping has got 50% staff discount. Secondly, the sweet and generous managers, Waiter Head and Chefs gave us most of the dishes for free! Kudos to them all! We order only 3 dished but ended up enjoying 10 fabulous seafood dishes! Here, kudos to Liping too for managing most of the arrangement:) We are so bloated at the end that we took a cab home:)

Dark eye circle victims!

+ =No Dark Eye Circles:)

This post is specially dedicated to my dear friend, XX-who suffered terrible dark eye circle syndrome...oops! According to the infamous Bryan Gan: "Here's a juice that to help fight dark eye circle if it is due to poor circulation. Is very delicious.Ingredients:A piece of ginger (around 2cm by 2 cm thickness without skin), one green apple (remove core). Put in juicer. Than add some water just nice to make a cup of serving. You drink this during day time. Its not only good for dark eye ring but also helps to improve a person's Qi. Drink it 3 times a week." He is an expert researcher on health and beauty and frequently attends talk shows on Love 972 so XX, be assured that you can trust him:)

Raffles Hotel:)

I accompany Liping to Raffles Hotel yesterday to settle some work matters and since we are there, decided to make full use of her staff discount (50%) to dine at Seah Street Deli:)

The restaurant follows American style and thus the servering is huge! This is the highly reccomended Caesar Chicken Salad which fills our tummies up before the main course. The barbecues chicken slices tasted really appetizing.

We are so full that we decided to takeaway this Turkey Sandwich. I'm not sure if it's too cold and I'm too lazy to heat it up before I eat it at home, the bread is simply like a rock and the turkey meat so saltish that I feel dehydrated after finishing it. Seems like the Veggie Delite @ Subway is still my favourite:)

The jukebox looked so classic, oldish, colorful with color lights and bubble tubes-just the way I like it;)

My first student:)

This is my first student, Sharon Toh Jingwen-primary one, as a home tutor for the first time. I feels rather jittery as I approach the family since Michelle who is supposed to accompany me to tutor Sharon's sister cancelled the tuition since Sharon's sister is sick. However, everything soon turns out well since Sharon's mum is quite friendly and Sharon herself is so cheerful and fun-though sometimes too fun-loving to focus well which is rather tricky to grapple with. The photos were taken today which is the second tuition for the week. She's so adorable and fun to play with but work's work, I still got to find efficient way to help her learn. Teaching her feels so satisfying and so patience-which is sometimes running short when she insist on playing, is worthwhile. Is this my love for teaching or women's natural inclination towards children...lol?

Accuracy Of Death ~ Monday 19 May

There is a significant message behind the movie-even though life may not be special due to its vulnerability and short existence but it is very important for the person living it, and even though life may be intolerable at times but a simple opportunity or turn of events can allow one to appreciate the beauty of life. This is the lesson that Takeshi as Chiba, the Grim Reaper learned at the end of the movie through three seemingly separate events which turns out to be intricately linked. Even though the message may be touching but the process towards this grand idea is too dreary, boring and plain. Throughout the movie, Chiba kept interacting with his fury colleague though printed dialogues on the screen-they even saved energy moving their lips. If you are on the verge of giving up life and desperately needed any source of encouragement while having the strong will to endure the most of the first part of the movie-what an irony, or a No. 1 fan of Takeshi, do not, I repeat, do not even consider watching it free on the Internet!

Vesak Day ~ Monday, 19 May

It's a super hot day at Bugis and Aljunied places of worship for ardent Buddhist devotees. Both my parents are Buddhist and that makes me a frequent visitor to solemn places of worship which feels tedious and uninteresting at first but slowly became a unique way of understanding the cultures and history of men's faith. Men have limited ability to control Nature's forces despite tremendous improvement to control our own fates and to extend our lives. However, a faith is more than a need to control the Nature and our lives, it's a representation of men's hope and optimism-which is what makes our flittering lives brilliant:) This post is for those whom never bother to visit places of worship.

This is the heart relic of a eminent monk who just passed away. He spent 25 years meditating in the deep mountains of Himalaya and had since spread his teaching far and wide.

There is a wish written on each card placed above the bouquets. I have scan through most of them and realised that the number one wish is hoping that there's no obstacles in life and ranked second and third are wishes for happiness and good health but most are not selfish wishes exclusively for themselves but for all of mankind:) One is magnanimous to wish happiness for all the old, disabled, improvised, victims of disasters and all animals and insects...lol...but this guy's truthfully is admirable:)

Later, we went for some durians-fabulously tasty durians:)

Pubbing @ Highlander @ Clarke Quay

Sunday, 18 May
The atmosphere at Highlander
is soothing and relaxing. They
even got an in-house live band
with brilliant singers. The envi-
ronment is best for having small
chats and relaxing with a couple
of old friends:) But since it's the
first time pubbing for most of us,
we decided that a full-blown photo-
shoot session is the best to capture
the fun:)

What Happens In Vegas (2008)

Watched 'What Happens In Vegas' on Wednesday, 14 May. Generally, it is a nonsensical, silly yet jovial movie just like a typical comedy romance movie. It depicted how two 'lost souls' finally found what they really desire in life-freedom from job's tenets for the women, and their innate potential-ability to make his parents proud by creating a decent piece of furniture seriously for the first time for the guy. Overall, it is filled with childish antics as both of them try to frustrate each other into giving up the million dollar
jackpot winnings which happens to give a peak into what troubles a modern couple would face in a marriage life. These includes how the wife may spend too much time in the toilet grooming herself every morning so that the husband is deprived of morning toilet break and this movie provided a brilliant solution-that is to remove the bathroom door...lol! Enjoy the movie;)

East Coast Park Cycling and Food Hunt:)

When Marilyn and I finally reached East Coast Park (Friday, 16 May), our tummies are grumbling like nobody business. So we can't wait to head for the Korean Restaurant recommended by Marilyn's Korean teacher. The restaurant is beside the only arcade at East Coast. We each ordered a main course-mine is Saba Fish Set and Marilyn's Beef Soup Set, and it come with 10 side dishes as shown below. It's super value for money ($13.50 each) and it's just like a mini buffet:) It's a must try!

With satisfied tummies and sudden 'energy rush', we began cycling towards Changi Airport!

We saw this while cycling along the way. Does this tree look like it is pointing its middle finger?

We almost reached Changi Airport but Marilyn thinks that reaching near enough to witness the Changi Tower is admirable enough:)

What do you think of my new hairstyle?

Does this picture look artistic-minus the bags and flip flops on the bank? This is where I slip down and injured my elbow which is still throbbing and swollen right now!

I even take Bus 36 from East Coast down to Orchard to meet Michelle despite my unmovable left elbow. Yes, the never-say-die spirit in order to have fun:) Later even bugged by yx to meet him and his army friend...lol

:)
