Vesak Day ~ Monday, 19 May

It's a super hot day at Bugis and Aljunied places of worship for ardent Buddhist devotees. Both my parents are Buddhist and that makes me a frequent visitor to solemn places of worship which feels tedious and uninteresting at first but slowly became a unique way of understanding the cultures and history of men's faith. Men have limited ability to control Nature's forces despite tremendous improvement to control our own fates and to extend our lives. However, a faith is more than a need to control the Nature and our lives, it's a representation of men's hope and optimism-which is what makes our flittering lives brilliant:) This post is for those whom never bother to visit places of worship.

This is the heart relic of a eminent monk who just passed away. He spent 25 years meditating in the deep mountains of Himalaya and had since spread his teaching far and wide.

There is a wish written on each card placed above the bouquets. I have scan through most of them and realised that the number one wish is hoping that there's no obstacles in life and ranked second and third are wishes for happiness and good health but most are not selfish wishes exclusively for themselves but for all of mankind:) One is magnanimous to wish happiness for all the old, disabled, improvised, victims of disasters and all animals and insects...lol...but this guy's truthfully is admirable:)

Later, we went for some durians-fabulously tasty durians:)
